Bircham - 30 MPH Speed Limit Consolidation & Variation Order
What is happening?
THE NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL (BIRCHAM, VARIOUS ROADS) (30 MPH SPEED LIMIT) CONSOLIDATION AND VARIATION ORDER 202X
Norfolk County Council propose to make the above-named Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of
which is to:
1. consolidate The Norfolk County Council (Bircham, Various Roads) (30 m.p.h. Speed Limit) Order 2009 whereby the 30 miles per hour speed limit on the existing lengths of road specified in that Order will not be changed (apart from the B1153 Bircham Road (also known as Docking Road and Lynn Road) which is extended as per the length below) with some descriptions updated but restrictions remaining the same and:
2. vary the existing Order by removing the existing reference to the B1153 Bircham Road (also known as Docking Road and Lynn Road) and then inserting a reference to the Order prohibiting any motor vehicle from exceeding 30 miles per hour along the B1153 Lynn Road from a point 285 metres south of the village signed junction at the U22333 Back Lane, eastwards and northwards to a point 279 metres north of its junction with the B1155 Stanhoe Road. This is an extension of 45 metres replacing the National Speed Limit.
The existing Order is proposed to be consolidated for clarity and efficient administration of the restrictions. As part of the consolidation the existing Order is being updated to reflect current legislation, is being clarified to make it clearer, or is being amended to correct minor errors. The reference of 'vehicles' is being updated to 'motor vehicles' to reflect current legislation. A copy of the draft Order, a plan and Statement of Reasons for making the Order can be viewed online at www.norfolk. citizenspace.com. Copies are also available for inspection at Norfolk County Council, County Hall, Martineau Lane, Norwich, NR1 2DH and at the offices of Borough Council of King's Lynn & West Norfolk, King's Court, Chapel Street, King's Lynn, PE30 1EX during normal office hours. Online viewing is recommended. Any objections and representations relating to the Order must be made in writing and must specify the grounds on which they are made. All correspondence for these proposals must be received at the office of nplaw, Norfolk County Council, County Hall, Martineau Lane, Norwich, NR1 2DH, marked for the attention of the nplaw Traffic Regulation Order Team by 13th October 2026.
