Bracon Ash - Traffic Orders for Speed Limits & Prohibition of Motor Vehicles
What is happening?
THE NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL
(BRACON ASH, VARIOUS ROADS) (HETHEL) TRAFFIC ORDERS 2026
Norfolk County Council has made the following Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (hereafter “the Act”) on the 15th September 2026 which come into force on the 19th September 2026:
The Norfolk County Council (Bracon Ash, Chapman Way and C186 Wymondham Road) (Hethel) (50 mph Speed Limit) Consolidation and Variation Order 2026
The effect of this Order is to:
1. consolidate The Norfolk County Council (Hethel, B1135 Stanfield Road) (50 m.p.h. Speed Limit) Order 2001 whereby the 50 mph speed limit on the existing length of road specified in that Order has not changed. The road classification and name has been updated from the B1135 Stanfield Road to the C186 Wymondham Road to reflect the recent downgrade to its classification. The road description has also been updated ‘to its junction with the B1113 Norwich Road’ replacing ‘its junction with the B1113 Hethel Road’.
2. vary the existing Order by prohibiting any motor vehicle from exceeding 50 miles per hour along the following length of road:
i) Chapman Way (New Link Road) – from its junction with the C186 Wymondham Road for 19 metres northwards
The previous 2001 Order has been consolidated for clarity and efficient administration of the restrictions. As part of the consolidation the previous Order has been updated to reflect current legislation, been clarified to make it clearer, and amended to correct minor errors. The reference of ‘vehicles’ has been updated to ‘motor vehicles’ to reflect current legislation.

The effect of this Order is to prohibit any motor vehicle from exceeding 30 miles per hour along the lengths of road specified in the Schedule below.

The Norfolk County Council (Bracon Ash, C825 Potash Lane) (Hethel) (Prohibition of Motor Vehicles) Order 2026
The effect of this Order is to prohibit any motor vehicle from entering or proceeding along the length of the C825 Potash Lane from its junction with the C186 Wymondham Road northwards for a length of 262.5 metres with an exemption to access adjacent land for agricultural purposes by the owner of said land or persons acting on their behalf insofar as such use is necessary.

Copies are also available for inspection at Norfolk County Council, County Hall, Norwich, NR1 2DH and at the offices of South Norfolk District Council, Horizon Business Centre, Peachman Way, Norwich NR7 0WF during normal office hours. Online viewing is recommended.
Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Prohibition of Motor Vehicles Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the Act, or that any requirement of the Act or of any instrument made under the Act has not been complied with, that person may, within 6 weeks from the date on which the order is made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.
