Cumberland - Temporary Road Closures due to Carriageway Resurfacing Works
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (A6 CARLETON/LONDON ROAD, CARLISLE, B5301 BLITTERLEES, SILLOTH AND C2050 NEAR ABBEYTOWN) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable carriageway resurfacing to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:
1. A6, Carleton/London Road, Carlisle
from its junction with the Golden Fleece Interchange, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 670m
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the A6 Carleton Road, London Road and Botchergate A7 through Carlisle, A595 Castle Way, Bridge Street, Church Street and Wigton Road and A689 Newby West to the Golden Fleece Interchange.
Duration: From 5 October 2026 for approx. 2 weeks, between 1800 and 0300 hours, each night

2. B5301, Blitterlees, Silloth from its junction with the B5300, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 1.6km
Alternative Route: via the C2015, U2029 and B5302 through Silloth.
Duration: From 12 October 2026 for approx. 5 days

3. C2050, near Abbeytown from its junction with the U2023, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 500m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C2050, B5302 Wavernbridge to Abbeytown and B5307.
Duration: From 23 November 2026 for approx. 5 days
