Gretna - Temporary Road Closure due to Bridge Repair Works

(C1022 BETWEEN GRETNA AND FLORISTON RIGG)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable bridge repair works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along that section of the C1022 from its junction with the B7076 at Gretna, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 4.1 km towards Floriston Rigg.

A suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted section of the C1022, C1015, Parkhouse Road, A689, A7 Carlisle to Longtown and A6071 Longtown to Gretna.

The Order will come into operation on 5 October 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required between 2000 hours on Monday 5 October 2026 and 0500 hours on Tuesday 6 October 2026 only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
