THE EAST DUNBARTONSHIRE COUNCIL (ON-STREET PARKING)
(BEARSDEN AND KIRKINTILLOCH TOWN CENTRES) ORDER 2026
On 15 September 2026 the East Dunbartonshire Council made an Order under ss 45 and 46 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers, which Order comes into operation on 02 November 2026. The proposed Order was advertised in the editions of the Kirkintilloch Herald and Milngavie & Bearsden Herald published the week commencing 17 March 2025. The main effect of the Order is that charges will be introduced at on-street parking spaces on the following roads:
1. Douglas Place, Kirk Road, and New Kirk Road within Bearsden; and
2. Oxford Street, Townhead, and Union Street within Kirkintilloch Charges will be introduced of 50 pence per 15 minutes of parking or part thereof between the hours of 8am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday.
A copy of the order as made together with plans detailing the lengths of road affected are available for inspection without payment of fee on the Traffic Regulation Orders section of the East Dunbartonshire Council website and at:-
(i) Bearsden Library and Community Hub, 69 Drymen Rd., Bearsden, G61 3QT (Mon-Thu 10am-8pm, Fri-Sat 10am-5pm);
(ii) William Patrick Library, 2-4 West High Street, Kirkintilloch (Mon – Thu 10am to 8pm, Fri – Sat 10am – 5pm);
(iii) Westerton Library, 82 Maxwell Avenue, Bearsden (Mon 1pm to 4.30pm & 5pm to 8pm, Tue 10am to 12.30pm & 1.30pm to 5pm, Wed 10am to 12.30pm & 1.30pm to 8pm, Thu – Sat 10am to 12.30pm & 1.30pm to 5pm).

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any provision therein on grounds that the Order is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or of any relevant Regulation made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within 6 weeks from 15 September 2026, make an application to the Court of Session for this purpose.
