TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS GIVEN that under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Lake District National Park Authority has made an order dated 10 September 2026. The effect of the order is to continue the prohibition all public traffic for all purposes from proceeding over part of Footpath 582005 at Crag Cottage bridge, Meathop and Ulpha Parish, between SD 4561 8083 and SD 4565 8079, due to the likelihood of danger resulting from the deterioration of the bridge.
The notice and plan showing the route concerned may be inspected during normal office or opening hours at the National Park Authority Offices, Wayfaring House Murley Moss, Oxenholme Road, Kendal, LA9 7RL; at Westmorland & Furness Council Customer Services, South Lakeland House, Lowther Street, Kendal, LA9 4DQ; and at Lindale Post Office, Lindale, Grange Over Sands, LA11 6LT; and online at www.lakedistrict.gov.uk/rowclosures.
The order will take effect on 14 September 2026 (when the current notice expires) and will continue in force for six months. If the likelihood of danger remains at the end of this period it may be extended with the approval of the Secretary of State.
