ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14 (1)

Temporary Road Closure

Atherton Road, Barnes.

1. The Council of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate remedial works, they intend to make a temporary Traffic Order, the effect of which will be to introduce a temporary prohibition of traffic in Atherton Road, Barnes.

2. Whilst the work takes place no person shall cause or permit any vehicle to proceed, wait or stand in Atherton Road, Barnes from the junction with Verdun Road to a point at the boundary wall of number 2and 3 Atherton Road.

3. The order will come into effect 28 September 2026. These works are anticipated to be in progress from 28 September to 29 September 2026. The order will remain in force for a period of 18 months, to allow for unexpected events and possible remedial works.

4. Whilst the closure is in place an alternative route for traffic will be via Parke Road, Galata Road, Ferry Road and vice versa.

5. The prohibitions apply only during such time and to such extent as indicated by prescribed traffic signs.

6. Nothing in the Order applies to:

(a) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works or any public service or utility vehicle;

(b) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police officer in uniform or a civil enforcement officer; or

(c) any vehicle being used for Police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes.

7. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

THE LONDON BOROUGH OF RICHMOND UPON THAMES

(SPECIAL EVENTS) (CAR FREE DAY) (NO. 1) ORDER 2026

(Reference 26/172)

1. The Council of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames on the 15 September 2026 made the above Order under section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

2. The general effect of this Order is to facilitate the holding of a street party in various streets for car free day to allow residents to celebrate within their communities.

3. The street which will be closed is listed in the Schedule to this notice. Full details of the lengths of street which will be closed and times when the closures will be in force will be contained in the order referred to in the next paragraph.

4. Copies of the Order:-

(a) can be inspected until 31 December 2026, quoting Reference 26/172 at the Civic Centre (Central Reception, ground floor), 44 York Street, Twickenham between 9.15am and 5pm on Mondays to Fridays, except for Bank and other public holidays; and

(b) may be viewed on the Council’s web-site at http://www.richmond.gov.uk/public_notices.

5. Nothing in the Order applies to:

(a) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works or any public service or utility vehicle;

(b) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police officer in uniform or a civil enforcement officer; or

SCHEDULE

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14 (1)

Temporary Parking Restrictions, Chertsey Road &

Gloucester Road, Twickenham.

1. The Council of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames HEREBY GIVES NOTICE that to facilitate gas main replacement works they intend to make a temporary Traffic Order, the effect of which will be to introduce a temporary prohibition of traffic in Chertsey Road & Gloucester Road, Twickenham.

2. Whilst the works take place no person shall cause or permit any vehicle to wait or stand in Chertsey Road from outside numbers 402 to 468 where there will be rolling suspensions in place between 28 September to 16 October 2026.

In Gloucester Road at the junction with Chertsey Road 6 bays in total 3 bays on each side of the road at the junction with Chertsey Road where there will be suspensions in place for the duration of the works for a compound from 28 September to 16 October 2026.

3. The order will come into effect on 28 September 2026. The restrictions will be in force at all times from 28 September 2026 until 16 October 2026. The order will remain in force for a period of 18 months, to allow for unexpected events and possible remedial works.

4. The prohibitions apply only during such time and to such extent as indicated by prescribed traffic signs.

5. Nothing in the Order applies to:

(a) any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works or any public service or utility vehicle;
