NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director – Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Platt Lane, Wigan) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 6th October 2026.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Platt Lane, Wigan on 6th October 2026 between the hours of 19:00 and 22:00 only.

Please note this is a one way closure only.

The Order is necessary to allow installation of frame and cover.

Atherton Road, Hindley – Temporary Closure

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director – Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Atherton Road, Hindley) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 4th October 2026.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Atherton Road, Hindley on 4th October 2026 between the hours of 08:30 and 13:00 only.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director – Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Pool Street, Wigan) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 28th September 2026.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Pool Street, Wigan on 28th September 2026 to 29th September 2026 between the hours of 19:00 and 04:00am only.

The alternative route for traffic is: Poolstock – Chapel Lane – Caroline Street – Wallgate – Saddle Junction – Ormskirk Road – Southgate – Queen Street.

The Order is necessary to allow manhole repairs.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director – Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Robin Park Road, Wigan) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 8th October 2026.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Robin Park Road, Wigan on 8th October 2026 between the hours of 20:00 and 23:00 only.

Please note this is a one way closure only – signed diversion will be in place.

The Order is necessary to allow installation of frame and cover.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director – Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council has made the Wigan Borough (Wigan Lane, Wigan) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026 which will come into operation on 13th October 2026. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Wigan Lane, Wigan on 13th October 2026 to 14th October 2026 between the hours of 09:30 and 15:00 only.

There is no alternative route for traffic as this is a bus lane closure only.

The Order is necessary to allow new service connection.

Shaw Street, Wigan – Temporary Closure

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director – Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Shaw Street, Wigan) (Temporary Closure) Order 2026.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Shaw Street, Wigan on 27th October 2026 to 30th October 2026.

The alternative route for traffic is: Nicol Road – Bryn Road – Alexandra Road.

Miles Lane, Shevington – Proposed Prohibition of Waiting

Notice of Proposals

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of the powers under Section 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act 1984, proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Decriminalisation of Parking) (Various Roads in Wigan Borough) (Traffic Regulation Consolidation) Order 2004 (Amendment No.641) Order 2026.

The effect of the Order will be to revoke no waiting at any time on:

•    Miles Lane, Shevington (west side) from a point 15 metres north of its junction with Mill Lane to a point 15 metres south of its junction with Mill Lane.

The effect of the Order will be to introduce no waiting at any time on:

•    Miles Lane, Shevington (west side) from a point 15 metres north of its junction with Finch Mill Avenue to a point 15 metres south of its junction with Mill Lane

•    Finch Mill Avenue, Shevington (both sides) from its junction with Miles Lane to a point 10 metres west of its junction with Miles Lane

There will be limited exceptions permitting vehicles to wait to enable people to board or alight; for the purpose of building and similar operations, removing obstructions to traffic, road works and works by statutory undertakers; for local authority, Water Companies and Post Office purposes; if the vehicles are fire service or police vehicles or ambulances, (liveried vehicles) or in connection with a funeral; to take on fuel, water or air at any garage; for the delivery or collection of goods and for loading or unloading; or the avoidance of an accident.

The Order also provides that if any vehicle is left in any road or length of road affected by the Order in contravention of any provision of the Order a penalty charge (in the amount set by the Council) shall be payable and/or the vehicle may be removed. A copy of the proposed Order, the Order to be amended, and of the relevant map and of a statement of the reasons for proposing to make the Order may be requested by emailing  s.eccles-churton@wigan.gov.uk.

Any objection to the Order must be made in writing and specify the grounds thereof and must be made to the Chief Legal Officer, Wigan Council, Town Hall, Library Street, Wigan, WN1 1YN or by emailing the above email address quoting reference  RD/LS/SEC/19013668 not later than 16th October 2026.
