Merton - Temporary Road Closures & Proposed Road Humps

THE LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 - Section 14(1) - (Kingston Road, SW19) - (Temporary Restriction Of Traffic) - Order 2026
1. THE COUNCIL OF THE LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON hereby give notice that to facilitate crane works in Kingston Road, SW19, they made an Order, the effect of which will be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic in the said road.

2. During the works, no person will cause or permit any vehicle to:-
(a) proceed in Kingston Road, between its junction with Mayfield Road and its junction with Kingswood Road; or
(b) wait, including for the purpose of loading or unloading any vehicle, in the length of road specified in paragraph (a) above; or
(c) enter or proceed in the footway on the north side of the length of road specified in sub-paragraph (a) above.

3. The restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as will from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

4. Vehicular traffic affected by road closure should proceed via: Mayfield Road and Kingswood Road or vice-versa.

5. Pedestrians affected by the footway closure should proceed using the footway opposite or as directed by signage.

6. Nothing in the Order will apply:-
(a) to any vehicle being used in connection with the execution of the said works; or
(b) to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a police community support officer in uniform; or
(c) to any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes; or
(d) so as to prevent vehicular access to premises in or adjacent to the length of road specified in paragraph 2 above, insofar as access is reasonably practicable without interference with the works.

7. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

8. The Order will come into operation from 22:00 on Saturday 26 September 2026 to 07:00 Sunday 27 September 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 3 months.

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 -Section 14(1) - (Harcourt Road, SW19) - (Temporary Restriction Of Traffic) - Order 2026
1. THE COUNCIL OF THE LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON hereby give notice that to facilitate water connection works, they made an Order, the effect of which will be to temporarily restrict vehicular traffic from entering, proceeding or waiting, including in any parking places, in Harcourt Road.

2. During the works no person will:-
(a) cause or permit any vehicle to enter or proceed in Harcourt Road, from a point outside the common boundary of Nos. 8 and 9 Harcourt Road to a point outside the common boundary of Nos. 11 and 12 Harcourt Road; or
(b) enter or proceed in the northern footway the length of road that extends between the common boundary of Nos. 1 and 2 Harcourt Road and the common boundary of Nos. 4 and 5 Harcourt Road; or
(c) cause or permit any vehicle to wait, including for the purpose of loading or unloading a vehicle, in the length of road specified in sub paragraph 2(a) above; or adjacent to the length of road specified in sub-paragraph 2(b) above.

3. Any designated parking place situated in the road or lengths of road specified in paragraph 2 above will be suspended for the duration of the works.

4. The restrictions will only apply during such times and to such extent as will from time to time be indicated by traffic signs prescribed by the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

5. Nothing in the Order will apply:-
(a) any vehicle being used in the execution of the said works or for the loading or unloading of construction vehicles; or
(b) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a police community support officer in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer; or
(c) any vehicle being used for police, fire brigade or ambulance purposes, subject to site conditions; or
(d) any person requiring vehicular access to properties adjacent to the lengths of road insofar as access is reasonably practicable without interference with the said works.

6. Vehicular traffic affected by the road closure should proceed via: Palmerston Road, Granville Road, Russell Road and Kingston Road or vice versa.

7. Pedestrians affected by the footway closure should proceed using the footway opposite or as directed by signage.

8. Any vehicle waiting in contravention of any restriction imposed by the Order may be removed under the provisions of the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986.

9. The Order will come into operation on 28 September 2026, and it is anticipated the works will be completed on 2 October 2026. However, the Order would remain in force for a maximum period of 3 months should further works be required.

THE LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON - PROPOSED ROAD HUMPS – ABBOTSBURY ROAD, SW20
1. Notice is hereby given that THE COUNCIL OF THE LONDON BOROUGH OF MERTON, under powers conferred by section 90A-F of the Highways Act 1980 and after consultation with the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis, intend to introduce 12 road humps, each 3.7 metres long, with a maximum height of 75mm high across the full width of the road, at the general locations specified in the Schedule to this notice.

2. A plan of the area showing the proposed humps can be inspected during normal office hours on Mondays to Fridays at: Merton Link, Merton Civic Centre, London Road, Morden. Information is also available at: https://www.merton.gov.uk/abbotsburyhumps.

3.
