Dorset - Multiple Temporary Road and Footpath Closures due to Utility Works

Temporary Closure of Water Lane, Durweston

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding along Water Lane, Durweston. The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 28th September 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 9th October 2026. This Order will enable Wessex Internet to carry out installation of ducting for fibre cable.

There will be no signed alternative route on this occasion, however access will be maintained.

Temporary Closure of Public Footpath E34/33, Alderholt

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, horse riders and cyclists will be prohibited from proceeding along Footpath E34/33, Alderholt from grid reference SU 11188 14058 to grid reference SU 11480 14589, a distance of approximately 800 metres. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 1st October 2026 for a period of 26 weeks, however it is anticipated the works will be complete by 30th November 2026.

This Order is required to allow National Grid to carry out essential works to their power lines.

Temporary Closure of Various Roads, Tarrant Gunville

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All vehicles, cyclists and horse riders will be prohibited from proceeding along Various Roads, Tarrant Gunville as listed: [i] Unnamed Road between St Mary's Church Access Road and Valley Road; [ii] Valley Road between the Unnamed Road and Eastbury House Approach. The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 12th October 2026 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 18th December 2026.

This Order will enable Scottish and Southern Power Distribution to carry out new dual lay 11 KV high voltage connection.

A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.
