A31 TRUNK ROAD – (STONEY CROSS TO MOGSHADE HILL)

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited intends to make an Order on the A31 Trunk Road in the County of Hampshire, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, because works are proposed to be executed on the road.

The effect of the Order would be to impose a weekend 50 mph speed restriction on:–

a) the eastbound carriageway of the A31 between marker post 7.2 (a point approximately 360 metres south-west east of the centreline of Bratley Plains underbridge) and marker post 4.5 (a point approximately 2360 metres north-east of the centreline of Bratley Plains underbridge); and

b) the westbound carriageway of the A31 between marker post 3.2 (a point approximately 1240 metres west of the centreline of its junction with Lyndhurst Road) and marker post 5.5 (a point approximately 1560 metres south-west of the centreline of the Stoney Cross junction).

These measures would be in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake culvert realignment and all associated works.

The Order would come into force on 11th October 2026 and have a maximum duration of eighteen months, expiring when the works are complete. The restriction would be in place from 20:00 hours Friday 16th October until 06:00 hours Monday 19th October.

The temporary speed restrictions would be clearly indicated by traffic signs while they are in operation during the works period.
