Notice of Confirmation of an Order Highways Act 1980
Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981
Footpath No. 229 (Oxted) Public Path Diversion Order 2026

On 11 September 2026 Surrey County Council confirmed the above Order made under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 and section 53A(2) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

The effect of the Order as confirmed is to divert Public Footpath 229 (Oxted) from OS grid ref. 538580 150062 proceeding south-westerly for 32 metres, then westerly for 20 metres, then crossing the farm track and entering the field through a gate and proceeding westerly for 225 metres to OS grid ref. 538306 150064.

A copy of the Order as confirmed and the Order Map have been placed and may be seen free of charge by appointment (Tel. 0300 200 1003) at Surrey County Council Offices, Whitebeam Lodge, Merrow Depot, Merrow Lane, Guildford (between 10.00am and 4.00pm from Monday to Friday).

A copy of this notice may be viewed on the Council’s website (www.surreycc.gov.uk) under Footpaths, Byways and Bridleways.

Alternatively, a copy of the Order and map may be purchased from the County Council at a cost of £4.00.

The Order came into force on 11 September 2026 but if a person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity or that of any provision contained in it on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highway Act 1980 as amended or on the ground that any requirement of the Act as amended or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order he or she may under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act within six weeks from 18 September make an application to the High Court.
