What is happening?

THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF NORTH TYNESIDE
VARIOUS ROADS, NORTH TYNESIDE
TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2026 

North Tyneside Council gives notice that it intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. 

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all through traffic on various roads in North Tyneside to allow resurfacing of the carriageway as follows:

NORTH SHIELDS
1. Bedford Terrace/Bedford Street from Albion Road to West Percy Street.
2. Church Way from Albion Road to West Percy Street.
3. Howard Street from Saville Street northwards for its full extent.

PRESTON WITH PRESTON GRANGE
Hawkey’s Lane from Spring Gardens to A192 Chirton Green.

TYNEMOUTH
Percy Park Road/Allendale Place from Percy Street up to the junction of Bath Terrace.

The proposed temporary Order will come into force on 5 October 2026 lasting until 30 November 2026.

All resurfacing schemes will be signposted with diversions in advance of works starting on site.

Residents and road users will also be informed through various methods of communication prior to work starting. Works will only take place as and when signage is erected.
