The East Sussex (U2178 Winchelsea Road/U2176 Finmere Road/U2179 Allfrey Road/U2163 Romney Street/U2179 Vine Square/U2175 Windermere Crescent/ C122 Channel View Road/U2176 Northbourne Road/U2179 Fort Road, Eastbourne)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;

Temporary Road Closures

Winchelsea Road – from the junction with A259 Seaside to the junction with U2178 Archery Lane.

Diversion via U2178 Winchelsea Road, Wartling Road, Rye Street – A259 Seaside and vice versa.

Finmere Road – from the junction with U2176 Northbourne Road to the junction with A259 Seaside.

Diversion via U2176 Finmere Road, Northbourne Road – A259 Seaside and vice versa.

Allfrey Road – from the junction with A259 Seaside to the junction with U2179 Norway Road.

Diversion via U2179 Allfrey Road, Norway Road, Myrtle Road – A259 Seaside and vice versa.

Romney Street – from the junction with A259 Seaside to the junction with U2163 Fairlight Road.

Diversion via U2163 Romney Street, Fairlight Road – C122 Channel View Road – A259 Seaside and vice versa.

Vine Square – from the junction with A259 Seaside to the junction with U2179 Norway Road.

Diversion via A259 Seaside – U2179 Allfrey Road, Norway Road, Vine Square.

Windermere Crescent – from the junction with U2175 Roselands Avenue to the junction with A259 Seaside.

Diversion via U2175 Windermere Crescent, Roselands Avenue – A259 Seaside and vice versa.

Channel View Road – from the junction with A259 Seaside to the junction with U2163 Fairlight Road.

Diversion via C122 Channel View Road – C558 Royal Parade – U2162 Beach Road – A259 Seaside and vice versa.

Northbourne Road – from the junction with U2176 Finmere Road to the junction with A259 Seaside.

Diversion via U2176 Northbourne Road, Finmere Road – A259 Seaside and vice versa.

Fort Road – for its entire length.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic as set out above.

The Order commences 28 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on various dates from 19:00hrs to 06:00hrs between 28 September and 29 November 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.
