St Albans - Multiple Temporary Road & Footpath Closures Due To Various Works

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 Temporary Closing Of Footpath St Albans City 042
NOTICE is given that the HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL have made an Order under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit pedestrians from using that length of Footpath St Albans City 042, between Butt Field View and Watling Street, for an approximate distance of 280m.
Alternative route: along Butt Field View, Gillian Avenue, and Watling Street.

The purpose of the Order is to enable highway maintenance works to take place.

The section of Footpath will be closed on or after 18 September 2026 for up to 2 months, when signs are in place.

(Temporary Closing Of Various Roads In Harpenden, East Hyde, Wheathampstead And St Albans) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads ("the Roads"), except for access:-
1. that length of B653 Lower Luton Road, Harpenden/East Hyde from its junction with B652 Bower Heath Lane north westwards for a distance of approximately 1253m.
An alternative route will be via: B653 Lower Luton Road, B652 Station Road, A1081 (St Albans Road/High Street/Luton Road/London Road/New Airport Way) and B653 (Lower Harpenden Way/Lower Luton Way).

2. that length of Conquerors Hill, Wheathampstead from its junction with Marford Road south westwards to its junction with Caesars Road, a distance of approximately 231m.
An alternative route will be via: Marford Road, Dyke Lane and Caesars Road.

3. that length of Downedge, St Albans from its junction with Batchwood Drive south eastwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

4. that length of Downes Road, St Albans from its junction with The Ridgeway north westwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

5. that length of Packhorse Close, St Albans from its junction with The Ridgeway north eastwards for its entire length.
There is no alternative route available, but access will be maintained wherever possible throughout the duration of the works.

The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.

The Order will come into effect from 7 October 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 6 months to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(Temporary Closing Of Dalton Street, St Albans) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Dalton Street, St Albans from a point in line with the southern boundary of No.15 Dalton Street north eastwards for a distance of approximately 54m ("the Road"), except for access.
An alternative route will be via: Dalton Street, A4147 Catherine Street, A1081 St Peters Street, Grange Street and Dalton Street.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 21 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 1 day to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(Temporary Closing Of Drovers Way, St Albans) Order 2026
NOTICE is given that HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Drovers Way, St Albans from a point 96m southwest of its junction with Adelaide Street south westwards for a distance of approximately 40m ("the Road").
An alternative route will be via: Drovers Way, A4147 Catherine Street, Etna Road, Stapley Road, Upton Avenue, Russell Avenue and Drovers Way.
or via: Drovers Way, Russell Avenue, Britton Avenue, Selby Avenue, Upton Avenue, Stapley Road, Worley Road, Gombards, A414 Catherine Street and Drovers Way.

The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.

The Order will come into effect from 22 September 2026 and will be valid for a period of 18 months. The works are scheduled to take 5 days to complete and will only take effect on the days and times indicated by signs on or near the Road.
