The East Sussex (U3162 Robertson Passage, Hastings)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Robertson Passage – for its full extent.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.

The Order commences 16 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 16 and 22 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U6438 Market Street/Lion Street, Rye)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow SGN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Market Street/Lion Street – from the junction with U6438 Church Square to the junction with U6437 High Street.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U6437 High Street – U6438 West Street, Church Square.

The Order commences 14 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 14 September and 23 October 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U3229 Berlin Road, Hastings)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026 No.2

To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Berlin Road – from the junction with U3232 Edmund Road to the junction with U3221 Athelstan Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U3221 Athelstan Road – U3225 Bedford Road – U3232 Edmund Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 14 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 14 and 18 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U3285 Baldslow Road, Hastings)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow SGN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Baldslow Road – from the junction with C215 Elphinstone Road to the junction with U3286 Laton Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U3286 Laton Road – C215 Elphinstone Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 28 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 28 September and 5 October 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U6196 Burgh Hill, Hurst Green/ Etchingham)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Burgh Hill – from the junction with A265 Haremere Hill to the junction with A265 High Street.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A265 Haremere Hill and vice versa.

The Order commences 1 October 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 1 and 2 October 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U3162 Prospect Place, Hastings)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Prospect Place – from the junction with U3162 St Michaels Place to the junction with A21 Cambridge Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U3162 St Michaels Place, Dorset Place – A21 Cambridge Road.

The Order commences 30 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 30 September and 1 October 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (U7705 Crouch Lane, Ninfield)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Crouch Lane – from the junction with B2095 Lower Street to the junction with A269 Bexhill Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2095 Lower Street– C1128 Lower Street – A269 Bexhill Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 28 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 28 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (C290 Spring Hill, Salehurst)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Spring Hill – from the junction with C19 Bodiam Road to the junction with C290 Rocks Hill.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C290 Rocks Hill, Church Lane – A21(T) Northbridge Street, Silverhill – C19 Bodiam Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 28 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 28 and 29 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure

Ninfield Road/Bexhill Road – from the junction with A2691 Haven Brook Avenue to the junction with U7705 Crouch Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A269 Bexhill Road, The Green, High Street, Standard Hill – A271 Kitchenham Road, Beechdown Wood, North Trade Road, Ten Sixty Six roundabout – A2100 High Street, Upper Lake, Lower Lake, Battle Hill, Hastings Road, Battle Road, Beauport Park roundabout, The Ridge West – A2690 Queensway, Combe Valley Way – A2691 Haven Brook Avenue and vice versa.

The Order commences 28 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 28 September and 17 October 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (A2101 St Helens Road/U3172 Dordrecht Way, Hastings)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2026

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;

Temporary Road Closures

St Helens Road – from the junction with A2101 Park Gates roundabout to the junction with A21 Sedlescombe Road North.

Diversion northbound via A2101 Park Gates roundabout, Queens Road, Albert Road – A259 Denmark Place, Carlisle Parade, White Rock, Verulam Place, Eversfield Place, Grand Parade – A21 London Road, Sedlescombe Road North and southbound via A21 Sedlescombe Road North, London Road – A2102 Norman Road, Warrior Square – A259 Grand Parade, Eversfield Place, Verulam Place, White Rock, Carlisle Parade, Denmark Place – A2101 Albert Road, Queens Road, Park Gates roundabout.

Dordrecht Way – from the junction with A2101 St Helens Road to the junction with U3171 Lower Park Road North.

Diversion via A2101 St Helens Road – A21 Sedlescombe Road North, Bohemia Road – U3171 Upper Park Road, Lower Park Road and vice versa or via A2101 St Helens Road, Park Gates roundabout – U3178 Bethune Way –- U3171 Lower Park Road and vice versa.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic set out above.

The Order commences 28 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 28 September and 2 October 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

SECTION 53 OF THE WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981

THE EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL (HASTINGS BOROUGH) DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT THE EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL

(PUBLIC FOOTPATH HASTINGS 426) DEFINITIVE MAP MODIFICATION ORDER 2025

The above Order, made on 24 January 2025, was confirmed by the Secretary of State without modifications on 18 August 2026 and took effect from that date. The confirmed Order modifies the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by adding a public footpath as follows:

A public footpath with an arbitrary centreline route shown on the Order Plan between points A-B-C-D-E. Commencing at the junction of Barley Lane and public footpaths Hastings 385c, Hastings 388 and Hastings 389, at point A at TQ 8489 1141, with a width of 5.5 metres. Continuing in a south-easterly direction for 170 metres on a lane passing Fairlight Place to north of a grass area at point B at TQ 8501 1129, with a varying width of 3 to 4 metres.

Point B has a width of 3.5 metres. From there the path narrows to 1 metre continuing in a south south-easterly direction for 48 metres along the western edge of the grass area to a gravel track at Place Farm Cottages at TQ 8502 1125. The path then widens to 3.5 metres and continues for 12 metres crossing the gravel track to just before a field gate at point C at TQ 8502 1124.

From point C the path continues with a width of 1.5 metres in a west south-westerly direction, for 30 metres along a worn path to a bank above a gulley at point D at TQ 8500 1122. From there it continues south for 50 metres with a varying width of 1 to 1.5 metres, descending on to the rocky surface of the gulley at TQ 8501 1112, where it widens to 3.5 metres.

The path continues downhill in south south-easterly direction for 75 metres, with a varying width of 1 to 3 metres. It runs through a deep sided gulley over large, exposed rocks with occasional running water, before reaching the junction with public footpaths Hastings 387, Hastings 398a, Hastings 400 and Hastings 401, at the head of Fairlight Glen at point E at TQ 8503 1111. The width at E is 3 metres.

The Order took effect from 18 August 2026 but any person aggrieved by the confirmed Order who wishes to question its validity on the grounds that it is not within the powers of section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 or that any of the requirements of Schedule 15 to that Act have not been complied with in relation to the Order may within 42 days from the date of this Notice make an application to the High Court under paragraph 12 of Schedule 15 of the said Act.
