The East Sussex (Public Footpath Barcombe 24 (part))
(Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2025
To protect public safety while a damaged bridge is being repaired, the Secretary of State has extended the above East Sussex County Council’s Order made on 5 September 2025 under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following footpath:
Temporary Footpath Closure
Part of Public Footpath Barcombe 24 will be closed between TQ 4390 1527 and TQ 4389 1519 for a distance of 85 metres. Use of footpath Barcombe 26 and restricted byway Barcombe 25a is suggested as an alternative route.
The closure will be in force for 12 months from 17 September 2026, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier, which after this period will require an extension from the Secretary of State, should the footpath still be unavailable to use.

To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Farm Close – for its full extent.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.
The Order commences 28 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 28 September and 2 October 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

Holdcroft Lane – from the junction with C13 Waldron Road to the junction with U7672 Graywood Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U7672 Graywood Road – C13 Waldron Road – U7026 Holdcroft Lane and vice versa.
The Order commences 28 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 28 and 30 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Winterbourne Lane – from the junction with C7 Winterbourne Hollow to the junction with U5103 Delaware Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via U5103 Delaware Road, Barons Down Road, Montacute Road – A275 Brighton Road – C7 Winterbourne Hollow and vice versa.
The Order commences 25 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 25 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow SGN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Featherbed Lane – from the junction with A271 Amberstone to the junction with C15 Cowbeech Hill.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C15 Featherbed Lane, Cowbeech Hill – C344 Stunts Green, West End – A271 Hailsham Road, New Road, Amberstone and vice versa.
The Order commences 28 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 28 September and 19 October 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow Openreach to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Church Street – for its entire length.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.

Burdett Road – from the junction with B2100 Crowborough Hill to the junction with U7152 Forest Rise.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.
The Order commences 16 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 16 and 17 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

To allow Southern Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure
Church Road – from the junction with C11 Croft Road to the junction with A26 Beacon Road.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via C11 Croft Road – C252 South View Road – A26 Beacon Road and vice versa.
The Order commences 15 September 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 15 September 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.

The East Sussex (Skyline Events London to Brighton Cycle Ride)
(Special Event) Order 2026
To enable Skyline Events to hold the London to Brighton cycle event on Sunday 13 September 2026, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 16 A to C of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily impose restrictions on the following length of road;
Temporary Road Closure – from 00:01hrs to 23:59hrs on 13 September 2026
C203 Upper Beacon Road & C203 Ditchling Road, Ditchling – from the junction with B2112 Clayton Road to the Brighton & Hove county boundary.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic south via Ditchling Road toward Coldean Lane. Turn right onto Coldean Lane. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Carden Avenue. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the A27 ramp to Worthing/ London/Hove/A23. Merge onto A27. Take the ramp to A23/London/
Brighton/Gatwick Airport. At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto A27. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto London Road/A23. Slight left onto A273. Turn right onto B2112 Clayton Road and vice versa.
Access by emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

NOTICE is hereby given that East Sussex County Council propose to make an Order under Sections 84 (1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, and of all other enabling powers, which would amend the speed limit in the following lengths of road;
SCHEDULE ONE – 40mph Speed Limit
A267 Mayfield Road from a point 16 metres south of the and Heathfield Road junction with Froghole Lane southwards to a point 260 metres south of the centre line of the A272 Summer Hill junction.
A272 Summer Hill from its junction with the A267 Mayfield Road westwards for 208 metres.
SCHEDULE TWO – 50mph Speed Limit
A267 Mayfield Road from a point 260 metres south of the and Heathfield Road centre line of the A272 Summer Hill junction southwards to a point 232 metres south of the Dad’s Hill junction at Cross in Hand.
