What is happening?

CAMBRIDGESHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

NOTICE is given that CAMBRIDGESHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL intends after 7 days, to make an Order pursuant to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which:

Fen Road, Bassingbourn Cum Kneesworth Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic – Order 2026-21283
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Fen Road, Bassingbourn Cum Kneesworth as lies between No. 15 & Shedbury Lane.

The alternative route for vehicles is via: The Shingay Rd, Abington Pigotts; High St; Litlington Rd; Abington Rd, Litlington; Church St; Silver St; Meeting Ln; Bassingbourn Rd; Brook Rd, Bassingbourn Cum Kneesworth; North End & vice versa.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate fencing repairs & associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway. It is anticipated that these works will take place between 08:30hrs & 18:30hrs on 7/10/26, when the restriction is expected to be in operation.

The Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months from the date it comes into effect to permit the works & any associated contingencies including delays or phased delivery of the works.

Meldreth Road, Shepreth Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic – Order 2026-21297
Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along Meldreth Road, Shepreth as lies between points 20m either side of the railway level crossing situated there as measured from its gates or barriers.

The alternative route for vehicles is via: Meldreth Rd; High St; Frog End; A10; Station Rd, Meldreth; Whitecroft C269; High St; North End; Meldreth Rd, Shepreth & vice versa.

The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate essential maintenance works which are being carried out on or near this highway. It is anticipated that these works will take place between 00:45hrs 25/10 & 05:15hrs 26/10/26, when the restriction is expected to be in operation.

The Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months from the date it comes into effect to permit the works & any associated contingencies including delays or phased delivery of the works.

Access will be maintained to properties affected by these orders. The above orders shall not apply to any persons lawfully engaged in connection with any works for which it is made, any member of the Police Force, Fire & Rescue Service, Ambulance Service, a vehicle being used by Special Forces during the execution of their duties or to any person acting with the permission or upon the direction of a Police Officer in uniform.
