NOTICE is hereby given pursuant to Section 65 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 that the South Hams District Council intend to vary the charges made in connection with the hire of Hackney Carriages within the District of the Council and listed below is the varied table of fares:-
NOTE: These are the maximum charges, the driver may charge less. The fare for any hiring with a destination outside of the South Hams can be negotiated with the driver BEFORE the commencement of the journey or run on the meter. A copy of this notice will be kept at the council offices at Follaton House, Plymouth Road, Totnes, TQ9 5NE and will be open to inspection by the public on any weekday during the usual office hours for twenty-eight days from the date of publication of this Notice. Any person wishing to object to the varied Table of Fares must do so in writing or by email to: Licensing, South Hams District Council, Follaton House, Plymouth Road, Totnes, TQ9 5NE licensing@swdevon.gov.uk
Objections must be received not later than 22 October 2026. If no objections are made, the varied Table of Fares shall come into operation on 23 October 2026.
