A34 TRUNK ROAD – MILTON TO CHILTON TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited has varied The A34 Trunk Road (Milton to Chilton) (Temporary Restriction and Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025 (a), originally made on 12th September 2025.

The effect of the Order is to extend the existing overnight carriageway and slip road closure provisions to permit total weekend closure between Milton Interchange (A4130) and Chilton Interchange (A4185), together with a supporting approach 50mph speed restriction on the southbound carriageway of the A34 between the B4017 underbridge and the northern underbridge at Milton Interchange (A4130) including the southbound off-slip at that junction.

These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors undertake resurfacing the carriageway to align with the lay-by alterations and all associated works.

It is expected that the closure will occur starting Friday 2nd October at 21:00 hours until Monday 5th at 06:00 hours (maximum period), with contingency planning for the same starting 23rd October in the event of postponement.

The speed restriction will start one hour earlier.

Please consult National Highways website for details of all restrictions. Please note this is an amended notice from the notice of intent published 3rd September 2026.

The Order will come into force on 27th September 2026 and remain so not longer than the duration of the original Order.

Traffic affected by the closures will be diverted using the A4130 and the A4185.

The temporary closures, speed restriction and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.

Ian Rosendaal, an Official of National Highways Limited.
