A5074 Main Road, Windermere - Temporary Prohibition of All Traffic due to Utility Works

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along that section of the A5074, Main Road, Windermere, from its junction with Crescent Road, extending in a northerly direction for approx. 225 metres.

A suitable alternative route for all traffic will be signed and available via Ellerthwaite Square (A5074), New Road, Lake Road, Crag Brow, Rayrigg Road (A592), Ambleside Road (A591) and Elleray Road (A5074).

The Order will come into operation on 4th October 2026 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restriction will only be required for 1 day and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
