THE EAST DUNBARTONSHIRE COUNCIL (BURNBRAE ROAD, NEAR KIRKINTILLOCH)
(TEMPORARY CLOSURE) ORDER 2026

On 15 September 2026 the East Dunbartonshire Council made the above named Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, which makes it unlawful for any person to drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle (with the exception of emergency service vehicles, vehicles engaged in the works, and those vehicles requiring access to properties or land adjacent to the closed section of road when its safe and practical to do so) on that section of Burnbrae Road, near Kirkintilloch between its junction with the B819 Lindsaybeg Road and its junction with Calfmuir Road, near Kirkintilloch, by reason of works being executed on or near this road.

This Order will operate from 06.00 hours on Sunday, 27 September 2026 until 23.59 hours on Sunday, 4 October 2026.

Alternative Routes

The alternative routes will be by way of Muckcroft Road; Auchengeich Road; Gartferry Road; Main Street, Chryston; the B819 Lindsaybeg Road; the A806 Initiative Road; Menzies Drive;  and Calfmuir Road, Kirkintilloch; and these routes will be sign posted.

THE EAST DUNBARTONSHIRE COUNCIL (ON-STREET PARKING)
(BEARSDEN AND KIRKINTILLOCH TOWN CENTRES) ORDER 2026

On 15 September 2026 the East Dunbartonshire Council made an Order under ss 45 and 46 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers, which Order comes into operation on 02 November 2026. The proposed Order was advertised in the editions of the Kirkintilloch Herald and Milngavie & Bearsden Herald published the week commencing 17 March 2025. The main effect of the Order is that charges will be introduced at on-street parking spaces on the following roads:

1.    Douglas Place, Kirk Road, and New Kirk Road within Bearsden; and

2.    Oxford Street, Townhead, and Union Street within Kirkintilloch

Charges will be introduced of 50 pence per 15 minutes of parking or part thereof between the hours of 8am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday.

A copy of the order as made together with plans detailing the lengths of road affected are available for inspection without payment of fee on the Traffic Regulation Orders section of the East Dunbartonshire Council website and at:-

(i)    Bearsden Library and Community Hub, 69 Drymen Rd., Bearsden, G61 3QT (Mon-Thu 10am-8pm, Fri-Sat 10am-5pm);

(ii)   William Patrick Library, 2-4 West High Street, Kirkintilloch (Mon – Thu 10am to 8pm,  Fri – Sat 10am – 5pm);

Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or any provision therein on grounds that the Order is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984,  or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or of any relevant Regulation made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within 6 weeks from  15 September 2026, make an application to the Court of Session for this purpose. (VARIOUS ROADS, BISHOPBRIGGS AND LENNOXTOWN)
(PART-TIME PROHIBITION OF DRIVING RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2026

The East Dunbartonshire Council made the above Order on 15 September 2026 in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), and 3(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in Scotland in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to said Act and having complied with the statutory requirements of The Local Authorities’ Traffic Orders (Procedure) (Scotland) Regulations 1999. The effect of the Order, which comes into operation on  30 October 2026, is to make permanent a part-time prohibition of driving on the lengths of road as specified in the Schedule in the vicinity of Thomas Muir Primary School and Meadowburn Primary School in Bishopbriggs and Lennoxtown Primary School in Lennoxtown, in the interests of road safety and traffic management. This Order gives permanent effect to THE EAST DUNBARTONSHIRE COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS, BISHOPBRIGGS AND LENNOXTOWN) (EXPERIMENTAL PART-TIME PROHIBITION OF DRIVING RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025, as extended by THE EAST DUNBARTONSHIRE COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS, BISHOPBRIGGS AND LENNOXTOWN) (EXPERIMENTAL PART-TIME PROHIBITION OF DRIVING RESTRICTIONS) (EXTENSION) ORDER 2026. Notice of the making of these Orders was published in local newspapers, put up on the relevant streets and published on the East Dunbartonshire Council website and interested persons were given an opportunity to make representations in relation to the proposal to make the experimental restrictions permanent.  A copy of the Order as made, together with a map showing said lengths of road and a Statement of the Council’s Reasons for making the Order are available for inspection without payment of fee in the Traffic Regulation Orders page of the East Dunbartonshire Council website and at:

(i)    Bishopbriggs Library and Hub, 170 Kirkintilloch Road, Bishopbriggs, G64 2LX (Mon-Thu 10am to 8pm; Fri-Sat 10am to 5pm).
