What is happening?

 THE EAST RIDING OF YORKSHIRE COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 SECTION 14 (1) TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC RAWCLIFFE ROAD, GOOLE

Notice is hereby given that East Riding of Yorkshire Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order, the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along Rawcliffe Road, Goole between junction 36 interchange Westbound and East at the

bell mouth to the flyover/bridge over M62 for 160 meters from 5 October 2026 until 10 October 2026. The closure is to allow for bridge investigation/survey works to deter corrosion of the existing structure. The road closure is necessary to enable the works to be carried out in a manner consistent with ensuring the safety of the public. The Order is valid for 18 months, but it is anticipated that the works will be completed within five days.

There are multiple alternative routes for traffic affected by the road closure which will be via:

Traffic from M62 Eastbound - Head north-east on the M62 at junction 37, exit onto A614 towards

Bridlington/York/Howden at Howden Spur Roundabout, take the third exit and stay on A614. Merge onto M62 via the slip road to Leeds/M18 at junction 36, take the A614 exit to Goole Sherwood

Drive. Traffic wishing to join EB M62 from A614 Head north-west use any lane to take the slip

road onto M62 continue M62. Take M18 to M62 merge onto M62 take the exit towards M18

continue onto M18 at junction 6, take the A614 exit to Thorne at the roundabout, exit onto the

M18 slip road at Leeds/Goole/Hull/M62 merge onto M18 slight right to merge onto M62.

Non motorway users heading to Goole from A645/A614 Rawcliffe Road - Head South on

Airmyn Road, at the roundabout take the fifth exit and stay on Airmyn Road. Continue onto High Street, continue onto Bridge Road, Ferry Lane, Airmyn, Goole, DN14 8LS. Head east on Bridge Road at the roundabout, take the third exit onto Boothferry Road/A614 continue to follow A614 turn left onto Airmyn Road head towards Rawcliffe Road A614 turn left onto Rawcliffe Road A614.

Non motorway users heading to Drax/Rawcliffe - Head East on Bridge Road at the roundabout, take the third exit onto Boothferry Road/A614 continue to follow A614 turn left onto Airmyn Road, Rawcliffe Road, Goole, DN14 6UE, head towards Rawcliffe Road/A614 turn left onto Rawcliffe Road/A614 Sherwood Drive, Goole, DN14 6GJ, head West at the roundabout, take the fourth exit and stay on Rawcliffe Road/A614.Continue to follow A614 at the roundabout, take the first exit onto Bridge Road and continue onto High Street, continuing onto Airmyn Road.

The diversion route will be signed at the time of closure. The road will be closed to all traffic. Access cannot be maintained due to investigation of cross beams on full structure, drilling rigs and civils teams all working in the same 100 yards of the structure.
