What is happening?
TRAFFIC ORDER
On 07/09/2026, Angus Council made The Angus Council (Abbot Street/Bakers Wynd, Arbroath) (Temporary Prohibition of Driving and Waiting) Order 2026, under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, so that footway works may be undertaken. The Order will come into force on 14/09/2026, from which date it is anticipated that the work will last for a period of five weeks. However, the maximum duration in terms of the Act is 18 months. The effect of the Order is to prohibit the driving and waiting of vehicles on the following roads in Arbroath: (a) Abbot Street from its junction with Barbers Croft in a north-westerly direction for a distance of 65m or thereby, (b) Abbot Street between its junctions with Barbers Croft and East Abbey Street for its entire length, and (c) Bakers Wynd between its junctions with East Abbey Street and West Abbey Street for its entire length. The alternative routes for vehicular traffic are via: (a) There is no alternative route, (b) East Abbey Street, Ponderlaw Street and Barbers Croft, and (c) West Abbey Street, Academy Street and East Abbey Street. The reverse routes apply for (b) and (c). Access for pedestrians, emergency vehicles and vehicular access to properties will be maintained.
