What is happening?

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984: SECTION 14

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE U4126 BYRON ROAD, IPSWICH

Suffolk County Council has made an order closing the U4126 Byron Road, Ipswich from Shakespeare Road to Macaulay Road to facilitate footway slurry works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period. Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion route will be Macaulay Road, Whitton Church Lane, Shakespeare Road and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate from 16/09/2026 - 19/09/2026 from 8am - 5pm. If necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PART OF THE C557 LONG THURLOW ROAD AND RICHER ROAD AND C558 ASHFIELD HILL, BADWELL ASH

Suffolk County Council intends to make an order closing the:

  • C557 Long Thurlow Road, Badwell Ash from the junction with Ashfield Hill for 60 metres north westbound
  • C557 Richer Road, Badwell Ash from the junction with Ashfield Hill for 60 metres south eastbound
  • C558 Ashfield Hill, Badwell Ash from the junction with Long Thurlow Road for 80 metres south westbound.

This is to facilitate overhead cable works. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period.

Access will be open for pedestrians and cyclists.

The diversion routes will be:

  • for Long Thurlow Road and Richer Road:
  • Long Thurlow Road, Wyverstone Road, Badwell Road, Rectory Road, Westhorpe Road, Finningham Road - Westhorpe, the B1113, Finningham Road - Walsham Le Willows, The Street, The Causeway, Badwell Road and vice versa
  • for Ashfield Hill:
  • Hunston Road, Westley Way and vice versa.

It is intended that the closure will operate on 25/09/2026 from 9.30am - 3.30pm, if necessary, the order may remain in force for 18 months (or longer if extended by the Minister).

SUFFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL (PARISH OF UFFORD) (FOOTPATH 12) (TEMPORARY CLOSURE) ORDER 2026

This order, which came into effect on 22/04/2026 closing Footpath 12, Ufford at the bridge has been extended in force by the Minister until 30/09/2027 or until the completion of the works, whichever is the earlier.

The closure remains required due to safety reasons due to a damages bridge. Other co-ordinated works may also take place during this period. Without extension the order would have been in effect until 30/09/2026.

There will be no diversion route.
