TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF FOOTPATH THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (THORNEY FOOTPATH NO.1) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION) CONTINUATION NO.4 ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Secretary of State Transport in pursuance of the powers conferred by Sections 14 and 15 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 approves of The Nottinghamshire County Council (Thorney Footpath No.1) (Temporary Prohibition) Notice 2025 (which came into force on 12th March 2025 and was continued in force by a Continuation Order until 11th September 2025 and was further continued by a Continuation Order No.2 which came into force on 12th September 2025 and was further continued by a Continuation Order No.2 which came into force on 12th March 2026 and continues in force until 11th September 2026 inclusive) being extended and continuing in force until 11th September 2027 or until completion of the relevant works, whichever is the sooner.
The Order has the following effect:-
No person shall: -
(a) proceed on foot,
in the following length of Footpath at Thorney in the
District of Newark and Sherwood:
Thorney Footpath No.1, from Roadwood Lane to
Newton Road.
AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that during the period of restriction there is no alternative route available for pedestrians.
If the works are not completed within the above period, the Order may be extended for a longer period with the further approval of the Secretary of State for Transport.
The prohibition is required to protect public safety while repairs are made to 2 damaged footbridges on the route.
