ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1) (AS AMENDED)
Public Footpath 10 Staintondale (part of) (A-B-C):
No pedestrian shall proceed along part of this Public Footpath commencing at Grid Reference NZ 9796 0196 (Point A – top of the cliff known as Old Peak), heading down the coastal slope for 440 metres to Grid Reference NZ 9792 0220 (Point B – junction with Public Footpath 11 Staintondale) and then continuing down the slope for a further 325 metres to the foreshore at Old Peak at Grid Reference NZ 9799 0241 (Point C). A total distance of 765 metres.
Public Footpath 11 Staintondale (B-D):
No pedestrian shall proceed along this Public Footpath commencing at Grid Reference NZ 9792 0220 (Point B – junction with Public Footpath 10 Staintondale) and proceeding across the coastal slope (known as The Coomb) for 614 metres to a point on the foreshore at Grid Reference NZ 9842 0194 (Point D). A total distance of 614 metres.
There is NO alternative route down the foreshore at this location.
The Order is necessary due to a large landslip.
The closure will be put into effect by means of the erection of notices and signs.
By approval of the Secretary of State for Transport on the 2 September 2026 to an extension (TTRO/Y&H/15530), the Order shall continue in force until 17 March 2027 or until completion of the works, whichever is the earlier. All enquiries to Beth Ghest (North-East Area Ranger) on (01439) 77270.
