Norwich - Temporary Road Closures for Electrical & Carriageway Works

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2026 (NORWICH)

Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984

Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:

(i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order in respect of the following road:

MOUSEHOLD STREET from its junction with Silver Road to its junction with Brewers Court to facilitate electrical service installation works from 23rd to 30th September 2026 (may continue until 11th November 2026). Alternative route is via: Mousehold Street, St James Close, Barrack Street, Silver Road. The works promoter is UK Power Networks.

(ii) THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:

ARMES STREET – from 5m west of its junction with Northumberland Street for 20m westwards to facilitate carriageway patching works from 17th to 19th September 2026 (may continue until 31st October 2026). Alternative route is via: Armes Street, Northumberland Street, Waterworks Road, Little Armes Street. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

HELLESDON HALL ROAD – from its junction with Low Road to its junction with Rotary Court to facilitate carriageway patching works from 14th to 18th September 2026 (may continue until 30th October 2026). Alternative route is via: Low Road: Hellesdon Road, Marl Pit Lane, Dereham Road, Sweet Briar Road, Hellesdon Hall Road and vice versa. Hellesdon Road: Low Road, Hospital Lane, Drayton High Road, Drayton Road, Sweet Briar Road and Hellesdon Hall Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.

Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by traffic of the named road(s)/ footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath.

Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months, or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle tracks, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT), but may also be extended further by the Secretary of State.

Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
