What is happening?

NORTH LANARKSHIRE COUNCIL
VARIOUS ROADS, AIRDRIE (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT) ORDER 2026

On 7 September 2026 the North Lanarkshire Council made the above-named Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by Schedule 1 of the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, and in exercise of all other enabling powers, which makes it unlawful for any person to drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle (with the exception of vehicles engaged on SGN Works).

Road Closure

Queen Victoria Street, Airdrie from the extended north kerb line of A89 Alexander Street to extended south kerb line at George Street.

Alternative routes: Vehicles on Queen Victoria Street at the north side of the closure wishing to travel to A89 Alexander Street at the south side of the closure should travel generally westwards on George Street, southwards on Ralston Street, eastwards on A89 Alexander Street, to the south side of the closure.

Vehicles on A89 Alexander Street at the southside of the closure wishing to travel to Queen Victoria Street at the north side of the closure should travel generally westwards on A89 Alexander Street, northwards on Ralston Street, eastwards on George Street, to the north side of the closure.

No Waiting and No Loading at anytime A89 Alexander Street, Airdrie from the extended East kerb line of Ralston Street to extended West kerb line at A89 Weavers Road.

Pedestrian access will be maintained, where practicable, during the closure.

Vehicular access will be maintained, where practicable, during the closure.

The Order, will come into operation at 0001 hours on Monday, 21 September 2026 and will remain in operation until 2359 hours on Sunday, 4 October 2026.
