THE A702 TRUNK ROAD (BIGGAR) (20MPH AND 30MPH SPEED LIMITS) ORDER 2022[]

THE SCOTTISH MINISTERS hereby give notice that they propose to make the above Order under sections 84(1)(a) and 124(1)(d) of, and paragraph 27 of Part IV of schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 which will have the effect of imposing 20mph and 30mph speed limits on the following lengths of road:

20MPH:

That length of the A702 Edinburgh – Abington Trunk Road at Biggar from a point 16 metres or thereby south west of the extended centreline of its junction with Park Place in a generally north-easterly direction to a point 55 metres or thereby south west of its junction with the extended centre line of its junction with Loaningdale Avenue, a distance of 925 metres or thereby.

30MPH:

That length of the A702 Edinburgh – Abington Trunk Road at Biggar from a point 55 metres or thereby south west of the extended centreline of its junction with Loaningdale Avenue in a generally north-easterly direction to a point 40 metres or thereby north east of the extended centre line of its junction with Leafield Road, a distance of 144 metres or thereby.

Full details of the proposal are contained in the Order which, together with a plan showing the lengths of road involved and a statement of the Scottish Ministers’ reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be examined free of charge during normal business hours from 11th September 2026 until 9th October 2026 at the offices of Transport Scotland, Fifth Floor, 177 Bothwell Street, Glasgow, G2 7ER, Biggar Library, Market Road, Biggar ML12 6FX and Co-op Food Biggar, Old Auction Market Old, Station Road, Biggar ML12 6BW.

A copy of the Order, Plan, Statement of Reasons, amended orders and this Notice will be available on the Transport Scotland website at: https://www.transport.gov.scot/SouthEastRoadOrders

Any person wishing to object to the proposed Order should send details of the grounds for objection in writing to the Director of Roads, c/o Catriona Paterson, Transport Scotland, Fifth Floor, 177 Bothwell Street, Glasgow, G2 7ER or via email to TRO-Objections@transport.gov.scot quoting reference SE/A702Biggar/CP by 9th October 2026.
