What is happening?
THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT (MACCLESFIELD ROAD, HAZEL GROVE) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) NOTICE 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport proposes to make an Order not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which will be to introduce a Temporary Prohibition of Driving at Macclesfield Road, Hazel Grove, between the junctions of Buxton Road and Melford Road, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said road.
This Order is necessary to enable works to conduct the structural examination of a bridge. It is estimated these works will last 1 day. A diversion will be provided via Buxton Road, A555 Manchester Airport Eastern Link Road, and vice versa. This Order is to come into operation on 13 October 2026 and will have effect for eighteen months,
provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period. Ref: JO/19406316/01
