What is happening?
THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT (HIGH LANE, WOODLEY) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) NOTICE 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport proposes to make an Order not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which will be to introduce a Temporary Prohibition of Driving at High Lane, Woodley, between Gilbert Bank and Hillside, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said road. This Order is necessary to allow for works to conduct the structural examination of a bridge.
It is estimated these works will last 1 day. A diversion will be provided via Smithy Green, Hyde Road, George Lane, Gilbert Bank and vice versa. This Order is to come into operation on 27 October 2026 and will have effect for eighteen months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
