ZUC1 FROM SHELTON TO B645, SHELTON 26 – 108

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Zuc1 From Shelton To B645, Shelton outside Elmsleigh.

This temporary road closure is required to install 14m of duct and replace joint box frame and cover. and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 08:00 to 17:00 hours from 23rd September 2026 to 25th September 2026

The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Zuc1 From Shelton To B645, High Street, Shay Lane, Shelton Road, Dean Road.

The reverse route applies.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Greyfriars, Alexandra Place, River Street, Hassett Street Midland Road, Bedford.

This temporary road closure is required for carriageway resurfacing and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 20:00 to 06:00 hours from 27th September 2026 to 27th October 2026

The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Union Street, Union Street Junction Roff Avenue Roundabout, Tavistock Street, The Broadway, De Parys Avenue, Dame Alice Street, St Loyes Street, Bromham Road, Harpur Street, St Peters Street, Kimbolton Road, Goldington Road, Newnham Avenue, Longholme Way, Bedford Footpath 22, Cardington Road, Rope Walk, Kingsway Roundabout, Kingsway, Cauldwell Street, Prebend Street, Midland Road, Ashburnham Road.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Brooklands Avenue, Wixams.

This temporary road closure is required to carriageway patching repairs and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 09:30 to 15:00 hours from 21st September 2026 to 23rd September 2026

The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Southern Cross, A6 Wixams Bypass, The Causeway, Bedford Road, Fisherswood Road, Green Lane, Brooklands Avenue.

The reverse route applies.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along High Road, Cotton End from Wood Lane to Harrows Close.

This temporary road closure is required to remove splitter islands and resurfacing carriageway and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 20:00 to 06:00 hours from 9th October 2026 to 10th October 2026

KEELEY LANE, WOOTTON 26 – 112

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along Keeley Lane, Wootton from opp 66 to outside 66a.

This temporary road closure is required to build a new joint box and lay approx 23m of Duct 54/56 in fw/cw/verge and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 08:00 to 18:00 hours from 5th October 2026 to 7th October 2026

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL PROPOSE TO INTRODUCE NEW WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN THE FURLONG, OAKLEY

Reason for Proposal:

Bedford Borough Council proposes to introduce “No Waiting at Any Time” restrictions in The Furlong, Oakley. These are intended to improve visibility and safety in this location and allow access for refuse trucks and emergency vehicles.

Effect of the Order:

1. To introduce a ‘No waiting at any time’ restriction on the following length of road: A The Furlong, Oakley

(i)   On its southern side, starting from the eastern boundary wall of Nos 11-17 for a length of approx. 32 metres in a south easterly direction

(ii)  On its eastern side starting from the southern boundary wall of No 24 and extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 20 metres

Reason for Proposal:

Bedford Borough Council proposes to formalise existing waiting restrictions on Stagsden Road, Bromham. The restrictions are deemed necessary to address inconsiderate parking and improve visibility and road safety in the vicinity.

Effect of the Order:

1.  Lengths of road upon which ‘No waiting at any time’ restrictions shall apply:

A   Stagsden Road, Bromham

(i)   On its northern kerb, extending from a point approx. 6.6 metres east of the projected centre of Quenby Way for a distance of 66 metres in an easterly direction.

PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION ORDER 2026

On 23 July 2026 Bedford Borough Council confirmed as an unopposed order the above Order made under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980.

The effect of the Order as confirmed is to divert:-

i. That length of Public Footpath numbered 41 in the Parish of Wootton in the environs of “86 Keeley Lane,” Wootton commencing from a point where it has a junction with the public road known as “Keeley Lane” in Wootton approximately 87 metres south-west of the property known as “86 Keeley Lane” Wootton at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) TL 0015/4612 and running in a northern direction for approximately 227 metres to the parish boundary at OSGR TL 0018/4634 where it has a junction with Public Footpath numbered 17 Kempston Rural and then running in a north-western direction for approximately 174 metres to OSGR TL 0014/4650 to a route commencing from a point where it has a junction with the public road known as “Keeley Lane,” Wootton approximately 74 metres south-west of the property known as “86 Keeley Lane” Wootton at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) TL 0016/4611 and running in a generally northern direction for approximately 237 metres to the parish boundary at OSGR TL 0021/4634 and then running in a north-west, west direction for approximately 203 metres where it has a junction with the unaffected part of Public Footpath numbered 17 Kempston Rural at OSGR TL 0014/4650 approximately 98 metres south-east of the property known as “30 Wood End Road” Kempston Rural.
