What is happening?
THE WOLVERHAMPTON CITY COUNCIL (PARKFIELD ROAD/
BIRMINGHAM NEW ROAD) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Wolverhampton City Council propose to make an
Order under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as substituted by the
Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, prohibiting pedestrians from proceeding
on the following stretches of footpath:
Parkfield Road footway store side closed from no 641 to junction with
Birmingham New Road. It is anticipated that the closure will operate from
21 September 2026 until 11 October 2026.
Parkfield Road footway opposite store side footway closed. It is anticipated that the
closure will operate from 12 October 2026 until 18 October 2026. Footway diversion
route: Parkfield Road, Dimmock Street, Birmingham New Road and vice versa.
The closures may operate for a maximum period of six months, but it is anticipated that the
works will be undertaken from 08:00 on 21 September 2026 until 17:30 on 18 October 2026.
The closure is required to facilitate Section 278 works including installation of new
bellmouth, footway re-surfacing, bus stop alterations, re-lining works and new pedestrian
crossing for new development by Rio Surfacing Ltd.
In addition, the following closure is to also operate:
Birmingham New Road footway closed from junction with Parkfield Road to Dimmock Street
from 19 October 2026 until 8 November 2026. Footway diversion route: Dimmock Street,
Bowen Street, Parkfield Road, Birmingham New Road and vice versa. It is anticipated that
the closure will commence from 08:00 on 19 October 2026 until 17:30 on 8 November 2026.
The closure may operate for a maximum period of six months, but it is anticipated that the
works will be undertaken between the dates and times detailed above. The closure is
required to facilitate Section 278 works for bus stop alterations, new kerb line install and
footway re-surfacing for new development by Rio Surfacing Ltd.
