TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibiting all vehicular traffic along the lengths of road listed in the Schedule. The Order is required to enable pipe installation works on or near the road. The Order will come into operation on 12th October 2026. The maximum duration of the closure under the Order will be 18 months, however it is estimated the closure will only be in operation for approximately 4 months from the commencement of the works. All vehicles will be prohibited from the roads in the Schedule (except vehicles involved in the works and emergency service vehicles on duty attending an emergency call) until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. Alternative routes will be provided via the A182 Washington Highway. SCHEDULE, A182 Washington Highway the entire length of the westbound off slip at Mount Pleasant Interchange.
