What is happening?

SANDWELL METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Vernon Road, Oldbury)
(Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026
intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Vernon Road, Oldbury which will be closed from the dividing line of property number 25 & 27 to the eastern boundary of property number 31 (23/09/2026-25/09/2026) (access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits). A traffic diversion route will be signed via Rood End Road, Shirley Road and vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 25/09/2026 effective from 23/09/2026 (24hrs). The Borough Council of Sandwell (Thompson Road, Oldbury)
(Temporary One-Way Road Closure) Order 2026
intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Thompson Road, Oldbury, which will be closed one-way in a northerly direction between the junctions of Highbury Road (northern side) and Crosswells Road (access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits). A traffic diversion route will be signed via Highbury Road, Bloxcidge Street and Crosswells Road. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 12/10/2026 effective from 21/09/2026. Purpose –
To facilitate access for gas main replacement works by Cadent Gas Limited.

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Mount Street, Tipton)
(Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026
intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Mount Street, Tipton, which will be closed at the junction of Horseley Road (access to any affected frontages will be maintained, but only when safety permits).A traffic diversion route will be signed via Horseley Road, Underhill Road, Hope Road and vice versa. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 25/09/2026 effective from 21/09/2026 (24hr). Purpose – To facilitate access to replace defective service covers/frames and locate service valves by South Staffs Water. The Borough Council of Sandwell (Gorsty Hill Road, Rowley Regis)
(Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026
intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Gorsty Hill Road, Rowley Regis, which will be closed from the junction of Beeches Road/Cocksheds Lane for 30 metres (access to any affected frontages will be maintained but only when safety permits). A traffic diversion route will be signed via Halesowen Street, Horner Way, Long Lane, Mucklow Hill, Dudley Road, Furnace Hill, Coombs Road and vice versa. A traffic diversion route for vehicles travelling in a northerly direction on Dudley Road will be signed via Haden Hill Road, Halesowen Road, Heathfield Way, Highgate Street, Garratts Lane, Powke Lane, High Street, Henderson Way and Archer Way. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 20/09/2026 (15:30) effective from 20/09/2026 (09:30). Purpose – To facilitate access to replace a service frame and cover by Severn Trent Water.

The Borough Council of Sandwell (Newbury Way, Rowley Regis)
(Temporary Road Closure) and (Newbury Walk, Rowley Regis)

(Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2026 intends to temporarily prohibit vehicles from proceeding along Newbury Way, Rowley Regis, which will be closed at the junction of Newbury Walk (access to any affected frontages will be maintained but only when safety permits). A traffic diversion route will not be required (cul-de-sac). The order also intends to temporarily prohibit pedestrians from proceeding via the footpath leading from Newbury Walk, Rowley Regis to Newbury Way. A pedestrian diversion route for access/egress to and from Newbury Walk will be signed via Bluestone Walk. The maximum duration is 18 months but the work is expected to be completed by 23/09/2026 (17:00) effective from 23/09/2026 (08:00). Purpose – To facilitate access to lay a new telecommunications duct by MJ Quinn on behalf of Openreach.
