Bristol - Multiple Road Traffic Notices

EAST BRISTOL LIVEABLE NEIGHBOURHOOD, EASTON, LAWRENCE HILL, ST. GEORGE CENTRAL, ST. GEORGE TROOPERS HILL AND ST. GEORGE WEST WARDS, PROHIBITIONS OF DRIVING, ONE WAY TRAFFIC AND CONTRAFLOW CYCLE LANES, WAITING PROHIBITIONS AND RESTRICTIONS, AND PARKING PLACES – TRAFFIC ORDERS

The City Council of Bristol hereby gives NOTICE it proposes to make the following traffic orders to support the ‘East Bristol Liveable Neighbourhood’ scheme, the aim of which is to achieve a better balance of how streets are used by residents and motorists:-

A. CAE/RGW/P-1366A – the City Council of Bristol (Various Roads, Victoria Avenue Area, Easton, Lawrence Hill, St. George Central, St. George Troopers Hill and St. George West Wards, City of Bristol) (Prohibition of Driving) (Prohibition of Entry) (One Way Traffic, Contraflow Cycling and Contraflow Cycle Lane) Order No.2 202-, the effect of which would be:-

1. to prohibit any vehicle proceeding in Pilemarsh from entering Netham Road; 

2. to introduce a westbound contra flow cycle lane in Pilemarsh;

3. to introduce westbound one way traffic (with exemption for pedal cycles) in Derby Street;

4. to amend the one-way traffic restriction in Netham Road by formalising the existing contraflow cycle lane and removing the exemption for cyclists from the one way prohibition; and 

5. to revise the prohibitions of driving in Beaufort Road, Cobden Street, Lincoln Street, Victoria Avenue and Wicket Lane.

B. CAE/RGW/P-1366B – the City Council of Bristol (Various Roads, St. George Area, Lawrence Hill, Easton, St. George Central, St. George Troopers Hill and St. George West Wards, City of Bristol) (Prohibition and Restriction of Waiting) (Prohibition of Stopping) (Loading Places) (Bus Parking Places) (Disabled Persons’ Parking Places) (Car Club Parking Places) (E-Scooter and Cycle Hire Parking Places) Order No.2 202-, the effect of which would be:-

1. to introduce a parking place to be used at all times on the south side of Lincoln Street, opposite its junction with Waterloo Street, for the leaving of electric scooters and electrically assisted pedal cycles which are being hired as part of a scheme approved by the City Council;

2. to introduce prohibition of waiting arrangements for vehicles in Access between Lewin Street and Padmore Court and George and Dragon Lane; 

3. to revise prohibition of waiting arrangements for vehicles in Avonvale Road, Barnes Street, Barton Court, Barton Hill Road, Beaconsfield Road, Beaufort Road, Blackswarth Road, Cobden Street, Derby Street, Ducie Road, Glebe Road, Jubilee Road, Leonard Road, Lincoln Street, Marsh Lane, Mildred Street, Morley Street, Netham Road, Northcote Road, Pilemarsh, Shaftesbury Terrace, The Avenue, Victoria Avenue and Wicket Lane;

4. to introduce restriction of waiting arrangements for vehicles in Avonvale Road;

5. to introduce prohibition of loading/unloading arrangements for vehicles in Derby Street;

6. to revise prohibition of loading/unloading arrangements for vehicles in Blackswarth Road;

7. to remove prohibition of loading/unloading arrangements for vehicles in Barnes Street and Glebe Road; and

8. to revise no stopping prohibition on school entrance markings in Victoria Avenue.

Further details of all the proposals are contained in the draft orders, which together with plans, copies of the orders to be revoked and a Statement of the Council’s Reasons for proposing to make the orders may be inspected at the Citizen Service Point, 100 Temple Street, Bristol, BS1 6AG, between 10.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. on Monday to Friday.

How to object
Objections to the proposals, together with the grounds on which they are made, must be sent in writing to TRO Comments at the undermentioned address or by e-mail to tro.comments@bristol.gov.uk  quoting the relevant reference number by 2nd October 2026. 

Please include your name and address and note that all representations received may be considered in public by the City Council and that the substance of any representation together with the name and address of the person making it could become available for public inspection.
