What is happening?

(Temporary Road Restriction and Traffic Regulation) Order 2026 – TEMP/26/137

The Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be that for a temporary period, to facilitate Scottish Water repair works, no person shall: (a) except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable in uniform, drive or cause or permit any vehicle to be driven otherwise than in a west to east direction on any part of Waterloo Pl from the extended west building line of No. 1 Waterloo Pl, eastwards for 140m; & (b) except with the permission of a Parking Attendant, cause or permit any vehicle to wait or load onto or unload from any vehicle at any time on any part of: (i) Waterloo Pl, north side, from the extended west building line of No. 1 Waterloo Pl, eastwards for 60m; (ii) Waterloo Pl, north side, from the extended west kerbline of Calton Hill, westwards for 81.5m; (iii) Waterloo Place, south side, from the extended west building line of No. 1 Waterloo Pl, eastwards for 180m; (iv) george Street, north side, from 40m east of the extended east kerbline of Frederick St, eastwards for 64m; & (v) george St, south side, from 30m east of the extended east kerbline of Hanover St, eastwards for 47m. Existing parking restrictions will be suspended on the affected sections of roads described in (b). The alternative route for through vehicular traffic in relation to the one-way on Waterloo Pl is Waterloo Pl, Regent Rd, Easter Rd, London Rd, Leith Walk & Leith St. The Order shall have effect from 07/09/26 to 29/11/26.
