What is happening?

(Marchmont Road Area) (Temporary Road Restriction and Traffic Regulation) Order 2026 – TEMP/26/135

The Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be that for a temporary period, to facilitate Scottish Power trial holes & duct installation works, no person shall: (a) except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable in uniform, drive or cause or permit any vehicle to be driven otherwise than in a south to north direction on any part of Phase 1, Marchmont rd, from Warrender Pk Ter to Melville Dr; (b) drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle on any part of: Phase 1 (i) Meadow pl, at Marchmont Rd; (ii) Warrender pk Ter, at Marchmont Rd; Phase 2 (iii) Warrender pk rd, at Marchmont Rd, east side; (iv) Warrender pk rd, at Marchmont Rd, west side; Phase 3 (v) Marchmont Cres, at Marchmont Rd; (vi) spottiswoode rd, at Marchmont Rd; Phase 4 (vii) Thirlestane rd, at Marchmont Rd; and (c) except with the permission of a Parking Attendant, cause or permit any vehicle to wait or load onto or unload from any vehicle at any time on any part of Marchmont rd, both sides, in its entirety. Existing parking restrictions will be suspended on the affected sections of roads described in (c). The oneway and road closures for Phase 1 shall not be enacted at the same time as the road closures for Phase 2, Phase 3 or Phase 4. The road closures for Phase 2 shall not be enacted at the same time as the one-way or road closures for Phase 1, Phase 3 or Phase 4. The road closures for Phase 3 shall not be enacted at the same time as the one-way or road closures for Phase 1, Phase 2 or Phase 4. The road closure for Phase 4 shall not be enacted at the same time as the oneway or road closures for Phase 1, Phase 2 or Phase 3. The alternative route for through vehicular traffic in relation to the one-way on Phase 1 Marchmont rd is Melville Dr, Argyle Pl, Warrender Pk Rd (Roseneath St), Marchmont Cres & Marchmont Rd. The alternative routes for through vehicular traffic in relation to the road closures are: Phase 1 (i) Meadow pl - Meadow Pl, Marchmont Cres, Warrender Pk Rd & Marchmont Rd; (ii) Warrender pk Ter - Warrender Pk Ter, Spottiswoode St, Warrender Pk Rd & Marchmont Rd; Phase 2 (iii) Warrender pk rd (east side) - Warrender Park Rd, Marchmont Cres, Meadow Pl & Marchmont Rd; (iv) Warrender pk rd (west side) - Warrender Park Rd, Spottiswoode St, Warrender Pk Ter & Marchmont Rd; Phase 3 (v) Marchmont Cres - Marchmont Cres, Warrender Pk Rd (Roseneath Street), Chalmers Cres, Beaufort Rd & Marchmont Rd; (vi) spottiswoode rd - Spottiswoode Rd, Arden St, Warrender Pk Rd & Marchmont Rd; & Phase 4 (vii) Thirlestane rd - Thirlestane Rd, Whitehouse Ln, Strathearn Rd & Marchmont Rd. The Order shall have effect from 07/09/26 to 30/10/26.
