Frosterley - Temporary Footpath Closure due to Bridge Repair Works

The County Council of Durham (Public Rights of Way, Footpath Number 32, (Broadwood Footbridge) Stanhope Parish, Frosterley) (Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2026
The Council on 2/9/2026 made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on the following length of footpath. A 40 metre length of Footpath Number 32 Stanhope Parish, Frosterley from the east side of the Broadwood footbridge In a westerly direction across the footbridge to the west side to enable bridge repair works to be undertaken. An alternative route for pedestrian traffic will be available from the west side of Broadwood Footbridge, in a westerly direction on Footpath 32, then in a south easterly direction on Footpath 27, then in a northerly direction on Footpath No. 30 and 31, joining Footpath 32 Stanhope Parish to the east side of Broadwood Footbridge and vice versa. The maximum duration of the Order is 6 months. The works commenced under urgent 21-day Temporary Traffic Regulation Notice on 17/8/2026 and now require extending from 7/9/2026 for approximately 6 months. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly. DATED: 10/9/2026
