Stanley - Temporary Road Closures due to Sewer Construction Works
What is happening?
The County Council of Durham (Holly Hill Gardens West, Woodside Gardens Chaytor Terrace North and Chaytor Terrace South, Stanley) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2026
The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of road. A 272 metre length of Holly Hill Gardens West from the front of No. 35 and 114, extending eastwards to the junction with Holly Hill Gardens East; a 138 metre length of Woodside Gardens from the front of No. 16 and 28 into the cul-de-sac area, to the front of No. 24 Kimberley Gardens; a 92 metre length of Woodside Gardens, from the front of No. 5 Ettrick Terrace North and South, to the front of No. 6 and 46 Woodside Gardens; a 31 metre length of Woodside Gardens to the front of No. 47 to 50 and a 42 metre length of Chaytor Terrace North and Chaytor Terrace South, from the side of No. 20 Woodside Gardens, to the front of No. 16 Chaytor Terrace and No. 18 Kimberley Gardens to enable sewer construction works to be undertaken. Throughout the period of the closure, any diversions available to vehicular traffic will be signposted on site. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are required from 8am on Monday 28/9/2026 and for the duration of the works anticipated to be 12 months. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
