(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER 2026
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Central Bedfordshire Council has
made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle, except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Plantation Road, Leighton Buzzard outside Woodcote.
This temporary closure is required to enable fire hydrant repair work to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
It is expected that the works will take place from 23 to 25 September 2026. The road will be closed at all times during this period.
The alternative route for this closure is via Heath Rd, Leighton Rd, Plantation Rd and vice versa.
The Order will come into operation on 23 September 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

This temporary closure is required to enable manhole cover replacement work to take place and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.
It is expected that the works will take place on 22 September 2026 between the hours 0900-1500. The road will be closed at all times during this period. There is no alternative route for this closure.
The Order will come into operation on 22 September 2026 for a period of eighteen months or until the proposed works have been completed, as detailed above, whichever is the earlier.

16 AND PART OF FOOTPATH NO. 44) PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION ORDER 2026
The above Order was made on 4 September 2026 under Section 257 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990. The effect of the order will be to divert Footpath No. 16, Leighton-Linslade and part of Footpath No. 44, Leighton-Linslade as shown on the Order map.
The length of Footpath No. 16, Leighton-Linslade to be stopped up extends from its junction with Footpath No. 44, Leighton-Linslade at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) SP 9283 2384 in a generally easterly direction for approximately 60 metres to terminate at its junction with Billington Road at OS GR SP 9289 2385.
The footpath is stopped up across its full width.
The length of Footpath No. 16, Leighton-Linslade to be created extends from its junction with Footpath No. 44, Leighton-Linslade at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) SP 9283 2384 in a generally easterly direction for approximately 58 metres to terminate at the highway extent of Billington Road at OS GR SP 9288 2384. The new length of footpath has a width of 2 metres.
The length of part of Footpath No. 44, Leighton-Linslade to be stopped up extends from its junction with Footpath No. 16, Leighton-Linslade at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) SP 9283 2384 in a south-westerly direction for approximately 8 metres to its junction with an unaffected part of Footpath No. 44, Leighton-Linslade at OS GR SP 9282 2384.
The footpath is stopped up across its full width.
The length of part of Footpath No. 44, Leighton-Linslade to be created extends from its junction with Footpath No. 16, Leighton-Linslade at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) SP 9283 2384 in a generally south-westerly direction for approximately 8 metres to its junction with an unaffected part of Footpath No. 44, Leighton-Linslade at OS GR SP 9282 2384.
The new length of footpath has a width of 2 metres.

Any representations about or objections to the Order may be sent in writing to the Highway Assets Intelligence Team Leader, Central Bedfordshire Council Highways, Priory House, Monks Walk, Chicksands, Shefford, SG17 5QT or definitivemap@ centralbedfordshire.gov.uk not later than 13 October 2026. Please state the grounds on which they are made. Representations and objections must include either a postal or email address. Any representations or objections made will be in the public domain and will be available for viewing/copying by members of the public.
If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, Central Bedfordshire Council may itself confirm the Order as an unopposed Order. If the Order is sent to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for confirmation any representations and objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the Order and will be made publicly available by either the Council or the Planning Inspectorate.
