THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE(PUBLIC BRIDLEWAY NO.23 WOOLSINGTON PARISH)
PUBLIC BRIDLEWAY CREATION AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER 2026
On 3rd September 2026, The Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne confirmed the above Order made under section 26 of the Highways Act 1980 and section 53A of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
The effect of the Order as confirmed is to create a 14 metre long public bridleway (No.23 Woolsington) in an overall southerly direction from the southern end of Public Bridleway No.11 Woolsington to Hareydene as shown on the order map. The above order will also modify the Definitive Map and Statement of the Public Rights of Way formerly within the County of Northumberland by adding the bridleway described.
A copy of the confirmed Order and the Order map may be seen free of charge at:
a). Customer Services, Outer West Library and Community Hub, West Denton Way, Denton Park, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE5 2QZ between 10am to 1pm, and 1.30pm to 5pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, and 10am to 2pm on Saturdays.
b). Newcastle Civic Centre, Barras Bridge, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 8QH between 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.
Copies of the order and the order map may be bought there at a reasonable cost.

The Order came into force on the date of confirmation but if any person aggrieved by the Order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980 (the Act), as amended, and/or the powers of section 53A of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (WCA), or on the ground that any requirement of either Act or of any regulation made under them has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act and as applied by s53A(7) WCA, within six weeks from 10th September 2026 make an application to the High Court.
