THE A42 TRUNK ROAD (APPLEBY MAGNA TO DISEWORTH, LEICESTERSHIRE)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC IN LAYBYS) ORDER 2026

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 9346363) intends to make an order on the A42 Trunk Road, in the County of Leicestershire, to enable cyclical maintenance works to be carried out.

The effect of the Order will be to close, at different times, any layby adjacent to the northbound and southbound carriageways of the A42 between the junction with the M42, near Appleby Magna and the roundabout junction with the A453 and the M1 Junction 23a slip roads, near Diseworth.

The layby closures will be carried out between 13:00 hours and 06:00 hours and are expected to start on Tuesday 6 October 2026 and continue for approximately two weeks. The Order will come into force on 29 September 2026.

Vehicles being used for police, fire and rescue authority or ambulance purposes and vehicles being used in connection with the works or for winter maintenance purposes will be exempt from the closures.
