What is happening?

BIRMINGHAM CITY COUNCIL

(PEDESTRIANISED STREETS) ORDER 202*

(TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 202*
(CARDIGAN STREET ETC, NECHELLS)
(20MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 202*

NOTICE is hereby given that the above named Council propose to make these Orders under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 4(2), 32, 35, 45, 46, 49, 53, 84(1) and (2) 101 and 102 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, (as amended) the effect of which will be as follows:

1. To introduce a Pedestrian and Cycle Zone except for Taxis, access to off-street premises, and for loading restriction on lengths of GOSPAL STREET, BELMONT ROW & PITT STREET;

2. To introduce No Waiting at any Time restriction on lengths of GOSPAL STREET, BELMONT ROW & PITT STREET;

3. To introduce a 20mph Speed Limit restriction on lengths of CARDIGAN STREET, GOSPAL STREET, BELMONT ROW & PITT STREET.

INSTALLATION OF ROAD HUMPS
CARDIGAN STREET ETC, NECHELLS

NOTICE is also hereby given that above named Council proposes under Section 90A of the Highways Act 1980 to construct road humps up to a maximum height of 75mm, at the following approximate locations, for the purpose of reducing speed:

1. Speed Cushions – 1 set on CARDIGAN STREET

2. Road Humps – 6 sets on BELMONT ROW & GOSPAL STREET

3. Full Width Raised Tables – 3 sets on CARDIGAN STREET

Full details of these proposals are in the draft Orders which, together with the plans and a statement of the Council’s reasons for the proposals, will be made available on request (Contact Imran Khan Tel: 07783 884328: email: Imran.z.khan@birmingham.gov.uk).

Any person wishing to object to the proposals should write to the Director – Infrastructure and Sustainability, Place, Prosperity & Sustainability Directorate, Birmingham City Council, PO Box 14439, Birmingham B2 2JE stating the grounds for objection by 1st October 2026.
