THE DERBYSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (THE CLOUGH, BAMFORD) (ONE WAY (EXCEPT CYCLES)) EXPERIMENTAL TRAFFIC ORDER 2026

Notice is hereby given that, on Thursday 3rd September 2026 Derbyshire County Council made an Experimental Traffic Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and its effect is:
One Way (Except Cycles)
The Clough, Bamford
Both sides
From a point 173 metres north-east of its junction with Taggs Knoll and Joan Lane in a north-easterly direction to its junction with New Road.
A copy of the Order and documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order are available for inspection at the County Council’s principal offices known as County Hall on Smedley Street in Matlock, at Bradwell Community Library, 8 Netherside, Bradwell, Hope Valley, S33 9AA during opening hours and on request by emailing

Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order, or any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the ground that a requirement of that Act or any relevant regulation made under it has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from the 3rd September 2026 make application for the purpose to the High Court.
The Council will consider whether the provisions of the Experimental Traffic Order should be continued indefinitely by a Permanent Order. All objections to the making of a Permanent Order must (a) be made in writing (b) state the grounds on which they are made (c) provide a name and address for contact purposes (d) be sent to the Executive Director – Place, Derbyshire County Council, County Hall, Matlock DE4 3AG (For Attention of Traffic Regulation Orders Team quoting reference Z3471P) or email

within 6 months of the coming into force of (1) the Experimental Traffic Order or (2) any relevant variation or modification Order to the Experimental Traffic Order.
THE EXPERIMENTAL TRAFFIC ORDER WILL COME INTO FORCE NOT LESS THAN 7 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF THIS NOTICE ON THE 14TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER 2026 AND CONTINUE UNTIL THE 14th DAY OF MARCH 2028 INCLUSIVE.
The Experiment is to assess the impact of introducing the one way on the byway, especially on the legitimate users of the route, with regards to any reported collisions between them.
