What is happening?

TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE
SHEFFIELD ROAD, OLD WHITTINGTON
WHEN: 29 September to 02 October 2026 (22:00 to 06:00 each night)
WHERE: Sheffield Road, Old Whittington between the Jct. with Holland Road for a distance of 70m in a southerly direction.
REASON: To facilitate rail bridge inspection works.
ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Sheffield Road, Brimington Road North, Station Road, Whittington Interchange, Dunston Road, Sheepbridge Lane, Broombank Road, Sheffield Road and vice versa.
Access will be maintained, whenever reasonably possible, on the affected length of road. The road will re-open as soon as the work is finished. This may be earlier than advertised. Anyone needing further information should ring Call Derbyshire on 01629 533190. The County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) to prohibit its use by traffic.
