(TEMPORARY CLOSING) NO 2  ORDER 2026

The Scottish Borders Council (Red Bridge Viaduct – Black Path Footpath) (Temporary Closing) No 2 Order 2026 has been made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The Order, which has a maximum duration of 18 months, will come into force at 08:00 on 7 September 2026 and is expected to remain in effect until 16:00 on 5 October 2026 . The Order is required to permit SPEN works.

When the Order comes into effect no person shall walk, cycle or wheel along the Red Bridge Viaduct – 

Black Path Footpath, from North of Essenside Drive to East of Red Bridge Viaduct.

The alternative route for pedestrians westbound is via Essenside Drive, Tweedbank Drive, A6091, A7, Tweed Road and Winston Road to point of closure, for eastbound, the reverse of the foregoing.
