What is happening?
OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
CARTERTON: ALVESCOT ROAD, BURFORD ROAD & WYCOMBE WAY – PROPOSED NEW CROSSINGS & TRAFFIC CALMING FEATURES
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Oxfordshire County Council under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 & the Highways Act 1980 proposes to construct the following features in Carterton, which are being put forward to help improve pedestrian safety in the area:
1. A new Zebra Crossing (for use by pedestrians only) on Alvescot Road – to be located approx.10 metres northeast of its junction with Hammett Place,
2. new Raised Zebra Crossing (for use by pedestrians only, with table to be full carriageway width, approx.75mm high with 1:15 gradients) on Burford Road – to be located approx.10 metres north of its junction with Huggett Close, and
3. new Raised table traffic calming feature on Wycombe Way – to be full carriageway width, approx.75mm high with 1:15 gradients, and located on the existing Pelican crossing (signal controlled crossing for use by pedestrians only), approx.45 metres southwest of its junction with Halton Road.
Improvements to existing street lighting provision will also be assessed and delivered where appropriate, whilst all proposals remain subject to completion of the detailed design process if approved.

The crossing will be located approx.25 metres west of its junction with Avenue Four (Station Lane Industrial Estate) – and is being put forward to help improve pedestrian safety in the area.

ASTON: B4449 COTE ROAD – PROPOSED ZEBRA CROSSING

The crossing will be located approx.10 metres west of its junction with Marsh Furlong – and is being put forward to help improve pedestrian safety in the area.
Improvements to existing street lighting provision will also be assessed and delivered where appropriate, whilst the proposals remain subject to completion of the detailed design process if approved.

Notice of Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic
North Leigh, East End Road
Date of Order: 21 September 2026
Coming into force: 28 September 2026
This Order is being introduced because of rising water main replacement works which are anticipated to take until 23 October 2026 to be completed.
The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in that part of East End road northwards from its junction with Boddington Lane to East End. Exemptions are included for emergency vehicles, the Works and for access to property. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when and where the measures are in force. The alternative route for traffic will be signed locally. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. Exemptions are included for emergency vehicles, the Works and for access to property. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when and where the measures are in force. The alternative route for traffic will be signed locally.
