What is happening?

Sections 82 to 90 & Schedule 10 of The Highways Act 1980, Local Public Inquiry, Proposal to Install a Cattle Grid at Cropton, North Yorkshire

Notice is hereby given that a Local Public Inquiry is to be held in connection with the proposal under Sections 82 to 90 & Schedule 10 of the Highways Act 1980 by North Yorkshire Council to install a cattle grid at Cropton, North Yorkshire. The Inquiry will commence at 10:00am on 30/09/26 & will be held in West Block Council Chamber Cllr Priority (90), County Hall, Racecourse Ln, Northallerton DL7 8AD by an Independent Inspector appointed for the purpose by the Secretary of State for Transport to hear representations from objectors, the promoting authority & at their discretion, to hear representations from any other persons who may desire to appear & be heard.

The Inquiry is to enable the Secretary of State, under paragraph 3(4)(b) of Schedule 10 to the Highways Act 1980, to decide whether or not to grant consent to North Yorkshire Council to determine the proposal in the affirmative. Any person interested in the subject matter may, as provided for in the above Regulations, appear at the Inquiry either in person or by counsel, solicitor or other representative. Whether or not he/she proposes to appear at the Inquiry, any person may send to the Inspector, prior to the Inquiry, such written representations as they may wish to make in relation to the subject matter at the Inquiry, with a view to their consideration by the Inspector.

This should be sent to the Inspector at the National Transport Casework Team, PO Box 1393, Newcastle Upon Tyne, NE99 5FQ or at nationalcasework@dft.gov.uk, quoting reference NATTRAN/Y&H/CG/108.

Copies of the Order & of the plan referred to therein may be inspected free of charge at all reasonable hours at County Hall, Racecourse Ln, Northallerton DL7 8AD. Objectors are reminded that the substance of any objection or representation may be communicated to other people who may be affected by it; that it will be passed to the Inspector holding the Inquiry; & that they may be required to disclose at the Inquiry the objection or representation &, unless there are special reasons to the contrary, the identity of the author.
